Students wonder why more than half of the vending machines in school aren’t on during school hours. The only vending machines on during school are the ones by the BAC and ones that sell water. The reason is that all competitive foods in schools must meet the national school nutrition standards that include limits on fats, sugar, sodium, and calories. Every Monday and Friday, students at Buffalo High School go to Advisory. Advisory is a class similar to a homeroom, where students are assigned a teacher that they stick with for all of high school. In Advisory, students listen to lessons from the Character Strong curriculum which include activities that are intended to help them get to know the other students, build community, and research their choices after high school. The Buffalo City Council held an appeal hearing over the controversial Trump/JFK Jr. flag flying over the city on Monday, May 17th, during its second council meeting of the month.
