Carrots and Ranch: The Classic Combination Bites Back

Leach and Rosh provide students with a Halloween snack while also providing a critique of local media

Carrots and Ranch, the best combo to grace snacking since the invention of ranch in 1949. Some of the best things come in pairs; peanut butter and jelly, Batman and Robin, Natasha Leach and Tara Rosh.

The Perfect Pair

  • Costume Duo Leach and Rosh dressed as carrots and ranch to share snacks with students.
  • Dynamic Duo Leach provides essential school support while Rosh brings high-energy passion.
  • Timeless Bond Their friendship and unique personalities create a joyful impact on the school.
On the morning of October 30 at 8:30 am, Leach and Rosh stood in the atrium of Buffalo High School, one of them holding a blue bin full of carrots and tongs and the other a paper plate filled to the sides with ranch, offering them to all the students walking by in complimentary costumes, a carrot and ranch dressing.
It started because of friendship.

“We did it because Mrs. Rosh hates a wasted costume, and I love doing whatever brings her joy,” said Leach.

But however accidentally, Rosh and Leach truly reflect the costumes they ended up in.

Carrots are a scrumptious bite-sized snack, but they are also a healthy, nutritious vegetable – the best vegetable, even. Leach who is in charge of supervising, running the behind-the-scenes of over 35 CIS courses, working with hundreds of students to get college credit, liaising with colleges and dealing with the numerous problems that pop up, does a substantial job. As Carrots are beneficial to good nutrition, Leach is beneficial to our Buffalo High School community.

Ranch’s is the pop-star sauce, with diva energy and flavor. Ranch is tangy, it’s fun, and it goes with just about anything. Rosh, when asked to comment, provided a whole press release, including things like, “We are beyond sickened by the fact that the entire Hoofprint staff basically ignored this monumental event until after second hour,” the time I reached out and asked if I could get some insight behind their generous actions.

We did it because Mrs. Rosh hates a wasted costume, and I love doing whatever brings her joy.

She sent me the press release as a “Preformulated Response,” and said: “The generosity and spirit of Ranch and Carrot were on full display at 8:30 AM. Too little, too late, Hoofprint. This lack of attention is yet another example of classic media bias.”

To quote Leach, “She’s [Rosh] a little bitter.” But everyone who has had Rosh as a teacher knows that interacting with her is a hoot, she jokes and gets along with everyone. Rosh is a diva and knows it. Her teaching is phenomenal. It’s interactive, has a point, and it’s passionate, leaving a lasting impression, a special flavor to remember.

The interactions between Rosh and Leach are something that always brings joy. When together, they bring smiles to faces and create a great flavor. Carrots and Ranch are the best snack at two years old, twelve years old, and twenty years old. A truly timeless combination.
