Go Vote!

Americans cast their ballot in the midterms

Midterm elections can change the trajectory of American politics. Today, Tuesday, November 3, the elections are taking place. Anyone 18 or older is allowed to vote. Voting will determine members of Congress, the state legislature, and local politicians—such as school board members and so much more.

Throughout Buffalo, there are four different polling locations. To find out where your polling place is, you can visit https://pollfinder.sos.mn.gov/; just enter your address, and it will tell you where to go. More information on what’s included on the ballot can be found at https://myballotmn.sos.mn.gov/.

Students who will be participating in the voting today have the opportunity to take time off of school and work in order to do so. Before you vote, make sure you are registered.

Polling places are typically open from 7 am to 8 pm; as long as you are in line by 8 pm, you are able to vote.

For students who are voting for the first time, a list of tips for new voters can be found at https://www.sos.mn.gov/elections-voting/election-day-voting/tips-for-new-voters/.

To vote, you can go to your designated polling place, sign in with your signature (or show proof of your current address if you are not registered), vote in a private area via pen/pencil or ballot-marking machine (you don’t need to fill in all sections for your vote to count), then put your ballot in the ballot-counting machine. Don’t forget to grab your “I Voted” sticker!
