On Friday, March 5, head coach Josh Ortmann was given news that their games against Chanhassen (originally Monday, March 8th) and Benilde St. Margaret (originally Thursday, March 11th) were cancelled due to the teams having to take COVID-19 precautions. “Benilde and Chanhassen had COVID-related issues come up and need to take precautions. The Buffalo High School Boys Basketball team is one game away from the State Tournament as they will play the Maple Grove Crimson for the Section Championship for the third year in a row. The COVID-19 coronavirus has taken a heavy toll on the US and could now affect the Minnesota State basketball tournament by limiting the number of people attending the game. Longtime Buffalo Bison sports supporter Gary Lee Wagner was killed in a crash on his way home from the section 8AA boys hockey playoff game against St. Michael on February 18. The Buffalo Boys Basketball team took the fourth-ranked Hopkins Royals to double overtime before losing 103-95 at Hopkins High School on Friday, February 7th.
