Buffalo has never blown away the State with its athletic programs. The school won its first athletic team State Title in 2007, beating Robbinsdale Armstrong in the class 4A basketball final. The girls basketball team played on Friday, January 27th at 7:15 p.m. at St. Francis. Buffalo’s record this year is 15-10 and they are 7-5 in conference going into Friday night. “The season is going pretty well,” said Head Coach Scot Sorenson. “We lost a couple close games but we also beat some very good teams. The Buffalo Bison had a great run this season. Our hope next year is the Girls Hockey team can pick up where they left off. Girl’s Hockey faced the Edina Hornets in St. Paul at 1:00 p.m. at the Excel Energy Center in the State Quarterfinals. In 2013 Cheerleading was cut from being school funded only to be replaced by two title nine equalizers, Boys Swim & Dive and Girls Dance Team. Since then there has been a small amount of tension between the recently school funded Cheerleading squad, and the new addition, Dance team. Buffalo Boy’s Hockey suffers loss against St. Michael-Albertville. The STMA Knights are now conference champions. The St Michael-Albertville Arena was overflowing with fans waiting for the puck to drop. The closest available parking spaces were no closer than a block away from the arena. “School Spirit” seems to have disappeared in the BHS student section this year. The scarcity of enthusiasm this year makes the student section almost seem lifeless.
