Math Teacher Reese Wishart returned to the high school after spending a year teaching at St. Michael Albertville.
Wishart originally went to school for nursing. Wanting to be a pediatric nurse, her life goal was to help children in whichever way she could. During her time in college, she then realized that she wanted to be a teacher.
“I could be a teacher,” Wishart said. “So I decided to be a teacher, and now that I am a teacher. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, and it’s where I should be and want to be.”
Wishart has been a teacher for four years, and a teacher at Buffalo High School for three. In her third year of teaching, she taught at the St. Michael Albertville High School, but this year she is back.
“I like the community here better,” Wishart said. “I really like and enjoy my coworkers a lot, and working with them and collaborating with them. I feel closer to my students. I feel closer to my faculty, and that’s why I would prefer to be here than there.”
Wishart is one of the many teachers at Buffalo who is also an Alumni of the school graduating in 2019. Wishart coming back to Buffalo not once but twice in her life shows what it truly means to be a member of the Herd. She had many opportunities to work at other places and to go and move to a different career, but she chose to stay at her alma mater and be a part of the community she loved. Wishart is part of what it means to be a Bison.
“I love this place,” Wishart said. “I love the school. I love the students. I love my coworkers. Go Bison!”
