For the first time in Buffalo High School’s history two boys swimmers advanced to the state meet. The semi-final round took place on March 7, and the finals on March 8. Senior Nathan Engfer swam the 100 Butterfly, finishing 12th overall with a personal best time of 53.35 seconds. The four state qualifiers Mike Simeon, Zach Smith, David Baker and Timmy Ruterhave been working hard. Only the three team captains have made it pass the first section, Smith, Baker, and Ruter. Simeon who is the first 8th grader from Buffalo to qualify for state, lost his first match. On March 3rd, the girl’s basketball team defeated Alexandria in their first round of sections. In a close game, Buffalo came up on top with a 75-70 win. Earlier in the season the team lost by 17 points, so their recent win came as a surprise. The leading scorer for the Bison was Senior Miranda Speckle with 24 points. On Saturday, February 28 the Bison Boys Hockey Team played the Moorhead Spuds at the SCSU arena in St. Cloud.  The Bison had previously defeated the Brainerd Warriors on Tuesday, February 24 to advance to the second round in Section Playoffs.                 On Friday February 27 and Saturday February 28 the Boys swim and dive team headed to Alexandria for Sections. They are in class 8AA and this section is extremely competitive.             The Meet started on Friday at 4:00 P.M. By Cassie Jensen and Lindsay Jensen Bison Wrestling State participants head to Excel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN to take part it the MSHSL Wrestling tournament.  Qualified team members heading to state include Seniors David Baker and Zach Smith, Junior Timmy Ruter, and 8th grader Mike Simeon. On Tuesday, February 24, the Bison Boys Hockey Team defeated the Brainerd Warriors on home ice to end their season.  The final score of the game was 6-2.  Senior defensemen Cole Meyer scored the first goal of the game. With Senior Captain David Baker leading them, the team got pumped for the meet against St. Cloud Apollo on Saturday February 21st.  Although the team lost and will not be attending state as a team a few wrestlers stood out against St. Cloud. On February 22, Buffalo Junior Gold hockey team played their last game against the Delano Tigers for a 4-4 tie. Buffalo Junior Gold hockey was celebrating two things that night, Seniors night and the last game of the season.
