Students buzz about the spring musical, Les Misérables. Even though this classic is quoted in shows such as Family Guy and Scrubs, most students don’t know what it is. Thanks to Cultures United and the Arts Magnet Program, the Mixed Blood theater presented Daughters of Africa in the PAC on Thursday.  This play was a monologue of  things African American females have been through over the years. This weekend, the One-Act play, Bury the Dead, took first place in the Sub-Section 2AACompetition. The group received unanimous top scores from the three judges.  They were judged on characterization, script interpretation, blocking, diction and volume. The cast will advance to the Section Tournament on Feb. 7, where they must take first place in order to advance to State. On the evening of January 27th, the Arts Magnet Foundations Class held their fourth annual arts showcase. The show, “Experience the Experiment” consisted of twenty-two acts of poems, monologues, skits, songs, and dances all written  or created by the students.
