Grease Auditions Show a Spike in Theater Interest

The fall musical, Grease, recently held auditions on Tuesday, September 8th, and Wednesday, September 9th, hitting a record number of 75 people auditioning. 

“A lot of my friends were trying out,” and I really love singing, so I auditioned,” said Nolan Koltes ‘30, a first time auditioner. 

Despite this being his first audition, he has considered auditioning for other shows in the past. “I’ve thought about trying out for BCT shows in the past,” Koltes said. “I never prioritized it as much as other things I was involved in, but I heard about Grease and was excited to try it.” 

After a good first experience with auditioning, Koltes would like to get more involved in theater in his future. 

“Even if I don’t make this one, I’m hoping to try out for the 9-10 musical and any future high school productions.”

While Koltes was excited to audition for his first musical because of  his friends and passion for singing, Braxton Teschendorf ‘27 was interested in the community. 

“I auditioned for the fall musical this year because everyone in the program is so friendly and I want to be a part of a group like that,” Teschendorf said. “Everyone is so full of energy and goes out of their way to make an inclusive environment.” 

Already, that community was present at auditions. 

“I was greeted with numerous people saying they were so excited to see me there,” Teschendorf said.

Excitement is in the air in the BHS theater department as the fall musical inches closer!
