Some people have bad or stressful days at school, or dread going to school, but people with mental illnesses can often find it difficult to make it through the day. The main goal of students with these types of problems and their counselors is to get them to school, get them to class, and have them stay in class. “[At BHS] they give you the strong sense that it’s okay to not be okay, and that’s essential…

The Buffalo Bison had a great run this season. Our hope next year is the Girls Hockey team can pick up where they left off. Girl’s Hockey faced the Edina Hornets in St. Paul at 1:00 p.m. at the Excel Energy Center in the State Quarterfinals. Fan support was enthusiastic with 21 buses, people driving from home along with a pep band and an administration that realized the value of their teams passion. The game…

With the wide variety of students and activities at BHS, it can be hard to grasp what is really being discussed between different groups of people during the lunch period. With over 55 tables in the cafeteria, it might just be easier to find a single table and group of people to sit with at lunch every day, but what are the other tables talking about? Over the past week, reporters from The Hoofprint asked random lunch tables…

When surveying students, we found that on average students get anywhere from 5-10 hours of…

With the unexpected absence of Spanish teacher Sra. Munsterman, the only Spanish III class offered this semester has been taught by substitute teacher, Mr. Stoesz. Stoesz is biochemist teacher, not a Spanish teacher, but he has been able to give the class some structure using solely the textbook. “I think the class is going alright so far. It’s not as great as it would be with a normal Spanish teacher,” said Junior Alex Rasset. “He can speak…

Each year at Buffalo High School it seems as teachers come and go. Some retire, some go on to do other things, and others are coming in looking for a new opportunity. Recently, we welcomed new World Studies teacher Katie Borchert. Borchert was hired on January 16, 2015, she started her job three days later, on the first day of 3rd quarter. “I was extremely nervous especially since I got hired the Friday before,” said Borchert. Luckily, this…

While many students try to balance a job as well as all of their school work, Junior Matt Young has taken a little bit of a different approach to this. Young decided to work at the school and has been working here since June of 2014. ” I chose to work here because my mom had previously worked here so I had a head start, that and the wages are pretty good,” said Young. His responsibilities…

Nicknames are very common in high school. Whether you like it or not, a nickname will usually stick, sometimes for your entire life. You may have heard students from BHS being called by their nicknames, but have you ever wondered the origin of this unique name? Junior Thomas Gaughan has been given a variety of different nicknames. “I’ve been nicknamed Roach, Salami Tommy, T- Fly #5 and Tommy Tip Toes,” said Gaughan. “My friends call…
