Theater students find community at annual theater retreat

This past weekend (September 20), the cast and crew of this year’s fall musical, Hadestown: Teen Edition, gathered at Zion Lutheran Church to begin preparing their production and building community with one another. The theater retreat serves as a way to introduce incoming freshmen and bridge the gap between technicians and actors. Technician Camron Tubbs ‘29 enjoyed the connections the theater retreat helped him build, “The theater retreat really helped me get to know everyone I didn’t know before, and the team-building games were really fun,” Tubbs said.

Actor Hailey Hathaway-Oxley ‘26 helped lead the retreat with the other members of the Theater Leadership Team. “It went really well, we did a few things differently this year, and I think it helped everyone get to know each other more,” she stated. Hailey later stated that, differently from years before, both the actors and the technicians had lunch together as a group, which helped build a community.
