Buffalo High school hosted their second blood drive this year today. October’s blood drive raised 102 units of blood, but NHS advisor Brigitta Bergquist believes Buffalo can raise even more blood than before. Monday afternoon the Buffalo High School Concert and Varsity Choir headed to Orono High School for Large group Vocal Contest. Last weekend, four Buffalo students placed high enough at the wrestling sections match to move on to State. It took place in Hopkins on Friday and Saturday and in order to make it to state, the athletes had to place first or second in their weight class. Junior Jackson Elliot swam the 100 butterfly in Elk River on February 25. He took fourth place at Sections with a State-qualifying time of 54.29 seconds. During the preliminary day of Sections, where swimmers have to place in the top 16 to advance, Elliott swam the 500 freestyle and afterwards threw up six times and passed out. Today, it snowed. A lot. Senior Kat LaCroix recently introduced BHS to lipdub, which combines lip syncing and audio dubbing to make a music video. “It’s a video where a community celebrates the groups within itself.” said LaCroix. The Buffalo Varsity Mock Trial team are advancing to State after defeating Cambridge-Isanti 220-199 yesterday afternoon. “I was really nervous and when the judge gave the verdict,” said Junior Emma Pearson. ”He was like, ‘Defense 199 and plaintiff 220’.
