The Strength of a Student Teacher’s Voice

Ms. Weigle's impact on music students demonstrated

Julia Weigle is a student teacher here at Buffalo High School in the music department and has been working with students for a couple of months. Ms. Weigle hailed from St. Michael and is attending Luther College in Iowa, in the last semester of her senior year. She has worked hard here at Buffalo High School to become a better teacher and connect with students.

“I have really loved working with both the students and Mr. Carlson-Giving,” Weigle said. “I think it is such a wonderful experience, students are so kind and respectful, but they also like want to learn things and get things done, and they’re always looking to grow, which I so appreciate. It makes it really fun for me as an educator to be able to help them meet their goals in those ways,” Weigle said.

Not only has Ms. Weigle enjoyed working with students, they have also really appreciated getting to know her.

“What I will miss most about Ms. Weigle is that she’s a really patient teacher,” said Madilynn Klingmann ’28. “She can sing my voice part, and I like her a lot. Like really a lot.”

Many students have also found Ms. Weigle as a wonderful example of what a career in music education can look like.

“She is the sweetest person, and she’s so easy to talk to,” said Averi Hausladen ’27. “She goes to Luther, which is one of the colleges I’m considering, because I also want to go into music education. She’s really good at explaining things and has been a really strong role model for female singers.”

Although Ms. Weigle has only been at BHS for a short time, she has left a strong impression on choir students.

“I really enjoy Ms. Weigle,” said Johnnie Klatt ’26. “She has done so much for our choir, and she is an exceptional teacher! I will miss her amazing capabilities of bringing us as a choir together, and I will especially miss her willingness to help and connect with us.”

Sadly, Ms. Weigle will be leaving BHS on April 10th, and the thing she is going to miss most is the students.

“[I’m going to miss] the people,” said Weigle. “The people, have been the best part of being here, and I’m going to miss the students!”
