Starting in the Fall of 2023, Buffalo High School plans to have a new daily schedule. The 80-minute, four class, block schedule will be gone, replaced with either a trimester schedule or a modified block schedule that features “skinny” periods that allow students to take year-long classes in core subject areas. The cafeteria at school is running out of food. There are about 2,000 students and staff that attend BHS five days a week, and they expect to be fed. They also expect to be fed what is shown on the menu beforehand. The problem is, there isn’t enough food to go around. Throughout this football season, Senior Cole Dostal, a student from Buffalo High School, has been a prominent member of fantasy football and has been very involved. Students enjoyed the Homecoming dance on October 2 for the first time in two years, since the 2020 dance was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time for many students to celebrate and party after over 18 months of isolation and social distancing. The dance began at 7:00 pm, and lasted until 10:00 pm. Students wonder why more than half of the vending machines in school aren’t on during school hours. The only vending machines on during school are the ones by the BAC and ones that sell water. The reason is that all competitive foods in schools must meet the national school nutrition standards that include limits on fats, sugar, sodium, and calories. Every Monday and Friday, students at Buffalo High School go to Advisory. Advisory is a class similar to a homeroom, where students are assigned a teacher that they stick with for all of high school.
