Google is no longer just used in our school as a search engine. Google offers different applications such as, Google Docs and Google Sites. Teachers around our school are using Google applications to get students more connected with each other and to try someting new.  2:00 am, October 10,2009 marked the first snow fall for Buffalo. This is early, even for Minnesota looking back at the day in history. Last year, the first snowfall was on October 26. Although there is not a huge difference in days, most people are not prepared for snow this early. Last year on October 10, there was low winds, but the high was 54 degrees. This annual event is a fundraiser for the concert band and concert choir’s spring trip which happens every two years, the year in-between is when the summer marching band takes their trip. The Variety Show also raises money for the two music scholarships that Buffalo High School gives out to a graduating male and female each year. On November 3, 2009 voters will be in line waiting to vote for the renewal of the levy. According to the School Board Minutes meeting in August in the past two years of the district levy elections we have had have been unsuccessful. The Bison Cross Country team headed to Litchfield on Thursday, October 8th, and competed in a 14 team meet. The varsity team dominated with 54 points and the following team (New London Spicer Girls) had 105 points. The junior varsity girls won also with 42 points and the following team (Mound-Westonka) had 83. On the boys side the varsity placed 5th with 144 points. Last Monday, Wednesday, and Friday were the informational meetings for Students Stepping Up (SSU).  Social Studies teacher and SSU advisor Tracy Hulley sent out a letter that said SSU is an organization the encourages and promotes chemical free leaders.  According to a letter Hulley sent to teachers SSU members help the district in a variety of ways. On Wednesday October 7th, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. Buffalo JV girls soccer played Monticello. The next ACT testing date is on December 12th. The registration deadline is on November 6th. The ACT includes English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Writing tests. The test takes approximately three or four hours. It requires a person to get a good night of sleep and a good breakfast before taking the test. The advice from many students is to pace yourself.
