One Act wraps up their season at State
The twenty members of BHS’ One Act Play participated in State Competitions at St Catherine University in Minneapolis/St Paul on February 10th and 11th. The 16 cast members and four crew members performed “The Pageant Play”, a story about feuding mothers who put their children through childhood pageants.
“‘The Pageant Play’ is a very serious show,” said Senior Rebekah Herdklotz. “Most of the students in the audience didn’t know how to react and so they chose to laugh at our play. Some of our cast members had mixed emotions about it because they put their heart and soul into the performance and the audience didn’t understand the message and just laughed.”
In order to advance in State, teams needed to be judged two out of three stars, but unfortunately BHS fell short and didn’t star, which ended the season.
“This year’s One Act was a unique experience,” said Herdklotz. “We started out with a piece of literature that wasn’t the strongest and molded it into something we could learn from and try to teach other people about. We got the exciting experience of going to state which was an honor to have been chosen to go there.”
