The lost and found, full of many interesting things is located in the front office. Someone every year loses something, and may or may not be able to find it. You may not know this, but at the end of every year the front office takes what is left over in the lost and found from that year and donates it. They sometimes donate it to a refuge in northern Minnesota at the India resort, staff members bring it somewhere different every year.
“We bag everything, then we send it over to the middle school, then they laundry it, and then send it to Wise Penny in Buffalo, across from Target”, said the principals secretary Linda Thompson.
They keep the expensive and the small things and electronics up front where not just anyone can come to get it back. To determine if something like an iPod belongs to the person looking for it they make that person describe it to them so they know that it is truly theirs.
“Donating is a great thing. Honestly there’s a lot back there and the amount of kids that come in to clam is small. Some kids don’t bother to come into get it. With the electronics we try to find out who’s it is and then we will call down who ever the iPod owner is.” said Traci Pederson. “After nine months, Officer Erickson finds out whose it is. If there not able to find out who it belongs to they donate it to a womens shelter. If there are calculaters here still after nine months, they go to the math department in our school.”
