4 weeks ago two students decided to finally put a voice to an issue so many have. Evelyn Diethelm ’28 and Anna Utsch ’28 decided to do something about the problem of the period product machines by creating a story. The story was titled “Time For a Change. Period.”
Since that story has been released a few changes have been made. The girls got in contact with Mr. Mischke to discuss the lack of free and available period products. After the discussion, Mischke got the product machines in the bathrooms changed to be free. Admin at our school was unaware that the machines in the girls bathrooms were not changed, due to the gender neutral and staff bathrooms being free. The end result being that the students were able to provide necessary change through using their voices. In schools, it is important for students to talk about things they think are important. Rather than complaining about it silently, if students stand up for those things, they can make real change.
