The HERD Winter Drumline wins State Championship
The team won their first state title in Region A
The HERD Winter Drumline celebrated a State win on Saturday, April 9. Prism, their show, competed against five different schools in the Scholastic Regional A Class.
“Our directors told us that judges sometimes like drama at finals. When he said that, knowing we had an undefeated season, I wasn’t expecting to win,” said senior Claudia Staut, who has been with the drumline since 8th grade.
The team hasn’t been to the state finals competition since 2019. So to get all the way to finals and have an undefeated season made everyone on the team, especially the seniors ecstatic.Â
“When we were performing, I practically mentally blacked out, which is good in the band world,” Staut said. “Since I didn’t know how the show went, I went to my director to ask what he thought, and he said it was the best show we had ever done.”
The HERD Winter Drumline has had an outstanding season, with a final ending that tops off the year.Â
