Students at Buffalo High School are participating in a fundraiser for the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. This fundraiser is used to support the children of St. Jude’s, and also promote the hospital. Students who raise $250 or higher will be able to attend a Gala in Minneapolis.
“The St. Jude’s Gala is an event in Minneapolis for St. Jude’s patients and non-patients who received an invitation to go because of their fundraising,” Emma Latcham-Reiter said. “The main point of the event is to mingle and socialize.”
St. Jude’s hospital has a mission of improving the survival rate of children with catastrophic diseases. The hospital has treated patients from all 50 states, with around 7,800 patients annually.
“St. Jude Hospital is a children’s hospital for any child. They will help treat or cure your child even if you don’t have the money to pay for it at the time,” Latcham-Reiter said.
The organization’s mission statement is “to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.”
“Anyone who wants to fund-raise for the event can. We have handed out many flyers on how to help fund-raise for the event to many BHS students.” Latcham-Reiter said.

The gala will be held at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, April 12, at 6 pm.
