Special Olympics Bowling

Special Olympics bowling at Buffalo does well in area meets and regionals every year, and this year is no exception.

The team has been through area meet for area 7 already this year, and will go to state at well on November 13th where they will compete with many different schools and will play two games each.

“Scores for bowling are indivuidal,” said Coach Ruth Clarke, “and they are in different age groups as well.”

In the area meet, Senior Lee Ann Baker got 1st place in her age group for 16-21 in a tie with Sophomore Billy Marston, with Senior Keaton Bowden in second place and Senior Joseph Kemna in third in the same age group. All bowlers placed in their age group from 4th to 1st place.

“The kids are really enjoying it. Some of them have their own balls, gloves, shoes, everything,” said Clarke, “Most of the bowlers are better than me.”

The bowling team practices every Monday from 2:30 to 4:30 at Huikko’s in Buffalo.
