Snow Daze adds fun to winter

As winter nights grow longer and the temperature drops, winter brings a dreary look to Buffalo High school. To lighten the mood and provide a break in the busy school routine, the school’s National Honor Society hosts the winter fun week, Snow Daze.
Dress up day themes, AAA activities, and after school events all go along with the overall theme of the week. This year’s theme is Boys vs. Girls. The students united with their teachers and competed against the rival gender in activities like Knowledge bowl, Staff vs Students Broom ball, a Rock Band Battle, and a Boys vs. Girls Obstacle course. The winning gender of each activity earns a point and at the end of the week, the points are tallied and the winning gender is announced. Unfortunately, when the last activity, the Rock band Battle, came to a halt because of technical difficulties, the score was lost and NHS has resulted to leaving it stay that way.
The dress up days that have been featured this week have been Multicolor day, Career day, Movie Character day, Duo Day, and to fit the Boys vs. Girls theme, Blue and Pink Day. On Multicolor day, students dressed as rainbows walked the hallways. Career day invited bunches of future teachers, doctors, firefighters, and movie stars to the school doors. Students dressed up as a character from their favorite movie on Movie character day. On Duo day, students dress up with their friends or fellow teachers as anything from Dr. Seuss’s Thing One and Thing Two from Cat in the Hat, to Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. When Pink and Blue day came around, the hallways were littered with different shades of pink and blue.
As Snow Daze draws to a close, students can look forward to the Valentines dance this Saturday. Semi Formal and six dollars at the door to attend, its a good end to a fun filed week, and a good way to wait out the rest of the winter season.
