RAVE on, BHS
RAVE (Respect and Value Everyone) week has concluded at BHS, prompting students to reexamine their definition of respect.
“Respect to me means that you listen to people even though you might not agree with what they’re actually saying,” Junior Alex Haas said.
Throughout the week, six student groups challenged everyone at BHS to focus on respect.
“Every high school can improve on respecting others,” Student Council Vice President Taylor Crowser said. “Respect is a polite behavior and is critical to be successful. It’s about showing others you care enough to treat them they way you want to be treated.”
Students and staff participated in RAVE week by wearing colors each day to show respect to various groups. For many, RAVE had a meaning far beyond dressing up.
“RAVE week is important because it’s a chance to get our school to come together and support one another,” Crowser said. “I wanted [RAVE week to show] BHS [that if we] put all the immature behavior behind them for just a week–possibly longer–and come together as a school, [we] could be a fully comfortable and great environment for 100% of the students at BHS.”
