Is Homework Helpful or Harmful?
Ask many students if they think homework is necessary and they would shake their head and say no. While some may put in the time to do it others may not – if its not required. Does homework help students do better on tests or is it considered a waste?
“To me homework is not helpful in terms for tests because you do all the stuff in class anyway,” said Junior Claire Thompson, “most students wing-it, anyway.”
By getting homework every night it could take away from family time and that could get stressful. Going to high school though, homework is assigned for most classes so there may be no way around it.
“Homework is helpful because if you don’t practice it you’ll never learn it, ” said Junior Burgandy Mallinger, “you only remember it for about a week (if you don’t do the homework).”
Every student has there on opinions on homework, if it helps them or not but all that matters if it helps them in the class.
Homework is harmful and can lead to health issues when it makes you stay up late. Homework is very stressful for me especially when I have largely difficult assignments and I believe it can cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I think that homework should be assigned every other day instead of every day. Large school assignments or projects should have a due date ranging from 3-14 days depending on how large the project is. I can never get a good night’s sleep when i’m stressed out about homework. Some school districts really need to give children a chance.
