Homecoming Coronation Tradition Continues

The air was buzzing with excitement as friends and family of homecoming court candidates filled the PAC to watch the coronation ceremony. As the lights dimmed, chatter ceased, and all eyes went to the stage. To begin the ceremony, Senior Class Cabinet Advisor Ashley Lostetter introduced the audience to Olivia Groetken ‘26 and Alyssa Prestidge ‘26. The two Class Cabinet members were selected to host and crown this year’s homecoming king and queen.

A sensational slideshow featured slides with pictures of each of the nine homecoming court nominees and a special quote of their choice. This played as the final event before the crowning of the homecoming king and queen.

The audience waited in suspense as Groetken and Prestidge moved the tiara and scepter of the first runner-up back and forth across the row of nominees, until they eventually found their place with Kris Adair ‘26 and Alyssa Dumke ‘26.

The anxious crowd eagerly watched, leaning forward on the edge of their seats as Groetken and Prestidge once again moved across the stage, this time, with the crowns of the soon-to-be homecoming king and queen in hand. The homecoming candidates held their breath, hoping for the possibility that the crown would land on them.

The crowns finally found their home atop of Robert Breckenridge ‘26 and Keeley Anonen’s ‘26 brow as thunderous applause roared around them. Forever securing their spot in history as Buffalo High School’s 2025 homecoming king and queen.
