The Tatanka Yearbook and Hoofprint.net were awarded All-State Gold honors and The Hoofprint took All-State Silver at the Minnesota High School Press Association (MHSPA) Convention held at the University of Minnesota on October 20. All school publications are invited to participate in the competition. Of the 30 categories, Buffalo was mentioned 15 times. The 2009 Tatanka yearbook, Origin, received 8 awards out of the 9 categories. The Hoofprint received 7 awards out of 12 newspaper categories. The Hoofprint.net won a general excellence award.
Senior Sophie Jundt wrote about swimming for the yearbook and won the “Sports Copy” award.
MHSPA also gave awards to the design aspect of publication. Joel Morehouse received an award for a photograph he took.
“I took that photo in Montana with a f-stop of 1.8, and a 50 mm lens” said Senior Joel Morehouse.
