Bison Girls’ Basketball holds the title of Conference Champs after an emotional 54-47 win against STMA last night in the BHS gym. They kept a consistent lead over the Knights throughout the game, and finished with a 7 point lead.
“It’s been something we’ve talked about since we were freshmen,” said Senior Calli Durst. “Beating STMA on our home court for the conference title is a goal we set at the beginning of the season, and we did it. ”
Not only was it an important game for their record, but it was also an important game they played for two of their teammates who were still hospitalized after a car accident on Monday. The team wrote the numbers of the absent players inside a heart on the back of their legs as a constant reminder throughout the game.
“We wanted to step out and play for them, not for ourselves or for St. Michael,” said Durst. “This game was about playing together and winning it together, all 17 of us.”
Their next game is Friday at home at 6:00 against Becker, followed by the Boys’ game at 7:30.
