Fidgets Return With a Solid Squish
Nee Doh Nice Cubes highlight the reemergence of fidget toys
Remember the days in 2017 when every kid was holding a fidget spinner? Well, those days are back.
Fidgets like NeeDoh Nice Cubes, fidget spinners, Pop-It Balls, and texture strips are making a huge comeback around the school. The leader in fidgets is the squishy Nee Doh product advertised as a sensory toy with a “super solid squish”. The cubes are skyrocketing in popularity and students can now spot the purple, blue, and pink cubes in almost every classroom and in many hands in the hall.
“As soon as I take it out in class someone takes it from me and plays with it,” Hoofprint editor Sydney Hoffman ‘28 said.
Journalism and yearbook teacher Sydney Driver responded in favor of the use of fidgets in classrooms and gave us some insight into how they benefit her life.
“I feel like [fidgets] help me focus more because I’m doing something with my hands, and then I can focus on whatever I have in front of me,” Driver said.
They have captivated people of all ages and are already sold out at many stores before the holidays. Fidgets are a viable outlet for the stresses that high school brings to students and with the new phone ban, students may be looking for something else to do with their hands. Are fidgets the answer?
