Erin Bersie takes Girl’s State Wrestling Championship
After having her High School season cut short, Bersie becomes a champion
Erin Bersie, a senior wrestler whose season at Buffalo High School tragically ended with an injury, triumphantly returned to the mat and captured a Girls High School State Tournament title.
“I was super sad [after the injury],” Bersie said, “because I felt like everything I had worked for was crashing down.”
After waiting three and a half weeks, Bersie was on the mat ready to compete in the tournament.
“This was my last chance to wrestle in the State tournament,” Bersie said, “and I was not going to miss it for anything.”
The final match was a close one, but Bersie held her ground.
“It was a super close match and I didn’t even know I had won right away,” Bersie said.
She ended her High School career as a champion.
