Despite Loss, Young Basketball Players Continue To Shine

Bison suffer 53-67 loss against the Waconia Wildcats

The Bison hosted a strong Waconia team on December 22nd in the main gym, ultimately resulting in a 53-67 loss.

The Waconia Wildcats gained momentum early on, scoring the opening basket of the game. The Bison’s starting line up consisted of Brianna Eggers ‘28, Mia Haugen ‘27, Aubrie Guida ‘27, Avery Bjorklund ‘26, and Reese Millerbernd ‘29. All of which continued to fight for the game. Millerbernd, Eggers, and Kherington Braun ‘28 would all go on to put points on the board in the first half. Despite their efforts, the Wildcats took an 18-27 lead into halftime.

Eggers opened up the second half of the game with a successful two point shot, but Waconia was able to respond and maintain their lead. Although the Bison put up a solid fight with Eggers, Millerbernd, Braun, and Jane Jayson ‘27 scoring, the Bison ended up falling short on the scoreboard.

While the Bison did come away with a loss, two young stars continued to shine. This year’s roster features just one senior and three juniors, leaving room for underclassmen to make a strong impact. Eggers and Millerbernd, both underclassmen, led the Bison in scoring putting up 22 and 19 points, respectively, combining for 41 of the Bison’s 53 points in a very impressive effort.

Next up for the Bison will be a 2:00 PM away game against the Annandale Cardinals on Saturday, December 27th.
