The Boys’ Swim and Dive Team is heading to sections February 25 and 26 in Alexandria. As the final week of practice approaches, the tension is building trying to perfect their swimming techniques. The boys have high hopes about this years competition.
“This meet is going to be sweet,” said Senior Blake Solberg, returning state participant. “I think that we are going to be sending the most, ever, to state this year then in the past. We also have a chance to win our very first sectional championship. I’m really looking forward to this weekend.”
Teammate Senior David Zaske, also a returning state participant, said, “Agreeing with Blake, this weekend’s meet is going to blow people out of the water. Our 200 Medley Relay and our 400 Free Relay are very strong and have a really good chance at going to state. Not only are our relays strong but we have a couple individuals that have a good shot as well,” Zaske said. “This year we have done a really good job at being a team and I think that has made us stronger as we head into tough competitions. We definitely have a chance to win sections.”
Head coach Pam Brophy is looking forward to the meet as well.
“We’re cautiously optimistic that we are going to send a lot of people to state, JD O’Donnell, David Zaske, Blake Solberg, and Jack Elliott are to name a few. The whole section team has been working hard and I think that they are going to do very well.” said Brophy.
Stay tuned for the results of the Boys 8AA Sectional Swim and Dive Meet coming next week.
