Boys Soccer Makes History, Advances to State Semifinals
Nissen's second half goal elevates the Bison against John Marshall
The Buffalo Boys Soccer team advanced to the State Semifinals by beating Rochester John Marshall 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Buffalo controlled the tempo of the game, but John Marshall’s All-State First Team Goalie David Carter kept turning away shots. Buffalo Goalie Gerhard Ungaro ‘28, who was on the All-State Second Team, had four saves in the shutout.
Cade Nissen ‘27 scored the game-winning goal with 11 minutes left in the second half.
“It’s probably the greatest accomplishment I’ve ever had,” Nissen said.
The boys next game in the State tournament will be on Tuesday, 10 am on October 28. The game will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium and fan buses will be available to bring students to the game.
