Boys Soccer Defeats STMA, Boosting Team Confidence
The boys soccer team gained confidence going into sections this week after winning game against St. Michael
For the first time in 16 years, Buffalo Boys Soccer defeated St. Michael by a 3-0 shutout. The team had the advantage of being on their home field, which may have contributed to their victory.
The first goal of the St. Michael game was by Cade Nissen ‘27.
“In the first two minutes, Cade Nissen got a goal off a free kick from the right side, ” Saul Rhodes ‘26 said. “He got a header on the backside.”
They played confidently for the rest of the game, which was necessary following their tough loss to Minnetonka.
“I think [the score of the Minnetonka game] was 0-5,” Rhodes said. “We knew we would lose the game, so let the bench players just get some time in. The energy definitely went down a little bit, but as you saw with St Michael, we bounced back.”
The soccer team also played a tough game on the night of October 3 which ended in a tie against Chanhassen. The score was 2-2, and the game was on the home field.
The next game the team will play is sections, which start on Thursday, October 10th. This Monday, the team will find out their seed.
“I think we’re gonna do well in sections. I’m feeling confident. It’s not decided what seed we are yet,” Rhodes explained. “We should be the first seed. So we should be playing the eighth seed which will likely be Sauk Rapids.”
