Bison Boys Basketball falls short in emotional loss during Section 8AAAA Championship Game vs Maple Grove
Willert Hits 2000 Career Points in Final Game

The Buffalo Bison came up two points short to the top-seeded Maple Grove Crimson in the the 8AAAA Section Final game last night, March 12. The game ended with the team protesting a questionable call at the buzzer.
In his last high school career game, Matthew Willert scored his 2,000th point with a step back three-pointer and set Buffalo High School’s all time scoring record as the only player in BHS history to score over 2,000 points.
The Bison had an eight-point lead with 13:35 left to play, but the Crimson came back and stayed neck and neck for the rest of the game. The game was tied up 44-44 with 4:44 left in the second half when the Crimson started to pull away.
The Bison fought until the end but fell short to the Crimson 54-52. Seniors Matthew Willert and Brandon Maatz scored combined total of 44 points for the Bison (Willert with 30 and Maatz with 14).
