Are you or someone you know a sports bandwagoner? A sports bandwagon fan is someone who only supports a team in periods of success. These are the people you see wearing Chicago Blackhawks hats not knowing what sport they play, or people who just started to like a team that recently won a championship. Bandwagoners make the years of loyalty and dedication for a team’s true fans go unrecognized and unappreciated.
“I wear my Avalanche hat because I love the Avs and have for a few years. They have a great team and I like almost every player. I like Patrick Roy because he’s a good coach and has anger issues which I think is hilarious.” Said senior Brody Butler.
Some fans actually care about their team, and are loyal to their team even in times of madness. The Colorado Avalanche aren’t currently doing so well, posting a record of 22-21-11 and are currently 7th in the Central Division, yet Brody still supports them.
“I still like the Avs even though they aren’t doing the best this year. I hope for a great season next year because they still have a lot of talent and quite a few young players with great potential.” Said Brody.
Some fans, like Brody, support their team even in times of madness, whereas some people only wear team apparel because of the look, or because they are doing well.
Senior Tim Pearson said “I think that people that wear [those hats] just because they think it looks cool, or they think they know the team, or they think wearing that hat makes them represent a team when they really know nothing about makes them a bandwagoner. If you wear a teams apparel but talk trash about other teams when you know nothing about the team that you think you’re representing, you should just be quiet.”
