An Evening Under the Sea
BHS' Unified Prom provides an inclusive night for the community

Kicking off Unified Week, BHS hosted Unified’s “Under the Sea” Prom this past Saturday. After students and attendees got checked in, they were provided a corsage or boutonniere before walking the red carpet.
After spending a good amount of volunteer time, the Cafeteria was given a makeover and completely transformed into the ocean theme. Jellyfish hung up, pieces of coral around the cafeteria, balloons, streamers, and lights were all included in the hard work that it took to set up for a wonderful, inclusive night.
With the help of volunteers, students, and families, there were a variety of things open for all people and preferences. Unified Prom did not limit anyone to a dance with and DJ. Other fun ways to spend time throughout the night include bingo, coloring, and photos.
It couldn’t have been a complete Prom without an assortment of sweet and salty snacks and refreshments. Free for grabs, there were bags to take candy from the candy bar, as well as chips, lemonade, and water.
What made it a true Unified Prom was the unwavering inclusivity seen throughout the entire evening. Large groups dancing with each other, people playing games together, and simply just chatting with someone. Smiles from one cheek to another, everyone’s attitude highlighted a night filled with positivity and fun for all.
