Student Care Committee spreading cheer with random acts of kindness

             Students scour the lunchroom, looking under chairs for treats on Halloween. Around Christmas-time students write down their wishes and drop them into the wish-box, hoping for them to come true.  Three days later, a few are granted.  The yearbook staff is in a frenzy towards the end of the year, rushing to get things done.  Just when things couldn’t get anymore stressful, cookies are dropped off at the hectic room to lighten the mood. 

            These random acts of kindness are made possible by a small group of ten girls.  They’re members of the Student Care Committee, a Buffalo High School organization. A majority of BHS students either have never heard of the Student Care Committee, or don’t know what they do.

            “It’s not just a stupid little group,” said SCC member Sophomore Cherise Beggs.  “It means so much to the people who are in it to just do something nice and put a smile on someone’s face.”

            With an inconsistent number of members, the Student Care Committee is open to anyone who would like to join.

            “We really could use more people,” said SCC group leader Sophomore Kayla Elsenpeter.  “Anyone can join, and it’s totally worth it.  You feel so good about yourself knowing you’ve made other people happy.”

            The Student Care Committee meets every Wednesday in Lynn Andrews’s room.  All you have to do to join is show up to a meeting, ready to make the world a better place.
