NHS Students Help Local Community in Big Way
Buffalo High School’s National Honor Society makes a huge impact on the community. This spring, they are taking a huge step. NHS students are helping sandbag local areas to help prevent flooding in the community.
With this winter’s snowfall, predictions show that we can expect higher levels of flooding than we have had the past few years. NHS students will be traveling to Stearns and Benton County to help homeowners and businesses prevent flooding and damage.
“With the flooding last year in Red River, I think what we are doing will help prevent flooding for them to some extent,” said Junior NHS member Jonah Menough.
The sandbagging will start March 12th, and students will be contacted by businesses and homeowners who need help. The thing that makes t these NHS students so incredible, is that they will be contacted with as little as 6-hour notice.
With the small amount of volunteers, NHS is hoping to make a huge difference.
