After having three different coaches in the past year, new coach Benjamin Wandmacher and the boy’s wrestling program hope to have a successful season.
In the past year there have been several faces behind the boys’ wrestling program. Following Paul Arens’ step down, coach Christopher Lembeck was brought in from Iowa to guide the team. Once he stepped down, next came Wandmacher.
“I think the boys have been pretty enthusiastic so far,” said Wandmacher. “They wanted to start right away, and get all the hubbub out of the way.”
With a record of eight and one this season, Junior Cedric Jimenez will be keeping his sights on State.
“The coaching changes haven’t bothered me so far”, said Jimenez. “Last year was my time to learn, and I learned a lot. This year it’s all about using what I have, and that’s an individual effort.”
“I think most of us are happy about Wad stepping up to take on the task,” said Jimenez. “Although Arens is the one who pushed us the hardest.”
Being a participator in wrestling since kindergarten, Wandmacher was an obvious choice for a coach.
“I feel that I’m qualified because I have years of experience in the sport, and I know how to prepare for a match,” said Wandmacher.
