Joe Neumann’s Graffiti World

Walking down to wood shop you hear the stories about this graffiti on the wall. Entering Konsela’s room there it is the graffiti on the wall courtesy of Senior Joe Neumann.

“He wanted me to TA for his class,” said  Neumann. “I did a lot of stuff but he asked me to paint the wood shop.”

Joe had never used spray paint to do graffiti before so this was his first project to do something with his talent. Joe had first discovered graffiti when he was in 8th grade.

“I have always been interested in it when I saw train cars,” said Neumann ,”but it just seemed like a new thing I could learn to do.”

Neumann doesn’t look down on other people’s graffiti just cause it isn’t well done he just doesn’t get what they were trying to  do.

“Some of it I look at it and think what does that say,” said Neumann, “but the way they do it looks really sweet.”

Neumann has been thinking ahead as to what he wants to do with his talent as well. Colleges have a lot of good programs here in Minnesota.

“I am going to the Minnesota College of Art and Design,” said Neumann. “I am going to get my bachelor in fine arts and major in illustration.”

There are a lot of different jobs for people with artistic abilities. Some do paintings to car decals.

“Hopefully I find a job where they need illustrators like a magazine or newspapers,” said Neumann, “but my ultimate goal is to open up my own custom shop airbrushing harleys and cars.”

“That’s four years from now though so we will see what happens by then,” said Neumann
