Bison Girls Tennis Falls Just Short in Rogers, Team Season Ends
The tough loss comes just a day after sweeping Coon Rapids in the first round of Sections
On Wednesday, the Bison Girls Tennis Team competed in the section quarterfinals at Rogers. After a very competitive match, the Rogers Royals edged the Bison and took the win with a narrow 3-4 victory, eliminating them from section play as a team.
Although the Bison ended up on the wrong end of the scoreboard, members of the team were very proud of the fight that the team put up.
“Our team did a really good job yesterday, they [Rogers] are the third seed and we’re the sixth seed so we didn’t expect to win, but our players were really fighting and I’m very proud of everyone,” said Rosary Gilbertson ‘27.
Gilbertson also added that all three of the Bison’s wins last night came from seniors and that “a lot of matches went into third sets,” which shows just how close the match was.
Senior Captain Ashley O’Malley ‘25 shared similar thoughts saying, “I’m very proud of how the team did even though we lost. Everyone was cheering a lot and that really helped.”
Although this loss means that the Bison’s season competing as a team will come to an end, the girls tennis players will have another chance to compete as individuals in the section singles tournament which is scheduled to begin Monday, October 14.
