A Promising Season of Dance

Varsity Buffalo Dance Team breaks past records and continues a successful season

On December 7, the Varsity Buffalo Dance Team was announced at awards for the first time in 6 years, scoring 282 for jazz and 272 for kick. After only two jazz competitions, the team has already beat their highest jazz score of 271 from last year.

Buffalo Dance earned its highest score since 2020 at a recent competition, earning 290 points.

Overall, the team’s season so far has shown to be promising.

“The season is going really well and we’re beating a lot of scores,” Ava Moline ‘27 said. “We have really good dances, and our new coach pushes us to do our best. We are closer with our team and we have better relationships with one another. We do our routines more full out and that affects our performance at competitions.”

Team members are excited about what’s to come for the rest of this season.

“I am so excited for upcoming competitions because we’ve already been doing better than previous seasons and I’m excited to see our improvements over the rest of the season,” Rylee Tetrault ‘27 said. “I think our team will continue to get better over the season and our scores will continue to rise. We all want to improve so we all are working hard.”

“I’m really proud of how the season has gone so far,” Coach Ackerman said.  “At the beginning of the year, we made goals that have given us a clear mindset as to what we wanted to achieve this season, and so far we have been making very good strides towards achieving those goals. Now in the second half of our season, I think reflecting on the achievements we have made and how well we have been doing will help us overcome the feeling of tiredness, and help motivate us to make more goals.”
