The Buffalo Boy’s Lacrosse season started off with a bit of a slow start. With seven games down, the boys are 3-4 so far. They started off the season with a win against Hutchinson on Monday, April 13th. Following their first win, the team suffered a four game losing-streak against Rogers, Orono, and Delano. It seems to be looking up though, Buffalo won two in a row on Thursday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 5th, beating Monticello and Delano. Even though the season isn’t exactly what players had in mind so far, positive attitude is still present in the minds of the athletes.
“I’m predicting we win up the rest of the season,” said Junior Max Hershley
Many students say this season isn’t as challenging compared to last year, due to the change in coaching staff. Joey Hartfiel takes the position of head coach for the boys this year, replacing last year’s coach, Larry Hunter.
“The ideas this year are different than what we’ve had the past couple of years, it’s been a little challenging adapting to a different style of play,” said Senior Mario Eiden
Some say this season isn’t as “hardcore” as it has been in the past. Previously, Hunter had a hard time letting his players accept defeat. He made sure to push and run the boys at the next practice when they didn’t have their best game. Hunter made a point to change the way they played to ensure that they wouldn’t play like that again. New head coach, Hartfiel has a bit of a different perspective on the game. Hartfiel isn’t as intent on penalizing for bad games, and after the loss of four games, the practices didn’t really change that much. He focused more on the games ahead and left the past games behind.
With six games left, the boys hope to get in some good wins and have a strong finish to the season.
