There are two conflicting views on this day. The resounding answer is; that its fun, it’s a time to flex, and get away from studying and finals.
The last Friday of the school year is Student Appreciation Day. It has been so for over the past four years. Year books are distributed and lunches are combined. There are band performance, activates (such as the inflated maze this year,) classes end at 1:30 pm and students are free to roam. It is the final farewell before its time to buckle down and study.
“It’s relaxing. You have more time between second and third block to hang out with friends” says Ben Daniels, a junior. “Student appreciation day works as a stress reliever.”
But Student Appreciation Day marks the final stretch. A reminder that there is only one week left and some students believe it could be put to better use. By shortening classes less work can be done. And there will always be students who need that time. There are also some who don’t and can’t find use in Student Appreciation Day
“It seems like a waste.” Senior, Rebecca Gunderson, states, “I’d rather be in class. At least in class; I’m doing something”
