Girls’ swim/dive team loses last dual meet

The Buffalo girls swim/dive team faced the fourth ranked Wayzata Trojans for their last meet of the regular season on October 25, 2011. The meet ended in a loss for the Bison, with Wayzata sweeping the meet.

The ending score was 103 for Wayzata and 81 for Buffalo. Wayzata won seven of the 12 events, and also took second in seven events. Buffalo took first in four events, and second in three events.

The highlights of the night for Buffalo were the four first place finishes. Senior Annika Bordak swam a 1:02.8 in the 100 meter fly for just enough to take first place. Also Freshman Lauren Kaminski took first in the 100 meter back with a time of 1:05.27. It was a good night for Junior Emily DeVore. She took a close second in the 50 free, and took first in the100 free with a time of 55.95. DeVore was also apart of the winning 400 free relay along with Bordak, Senior Becca Skelly and Junior Jenna Muntifering with a time of 3:52.

“We tried our hardest, but in the end it wasn’t quite enough,” said Freshman Taylor Susa.

The Bison finished the season with eight wins and only two losses in dual meets, as well as two first place finishes in invitationals. They also took second in true team sections behind Maple Grove.

The team’s next meet is sections in St.Cloud on November 11-12. The state meet is scheduled for November 17-19 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
