Strong Performances for Bison Track and Field

On Tuesday April 21, 2009 The Bison Junior Varsity Track and Field team headed to St. Michael to compete against St. Michael, Monticello, and Princeton. The meet started at 4:00 p.m. and ended around 7:00 p.m. The meet was a great learning experience for the kids who do not usually get to go to meets. The conditions were extremely windy and the athletes struggled to round the corner and finish their races. The Bison not only competed but they dominated many of the events.

The first event, the four by 800 meter relay, was dominated by the boys and girls teams which both took first. The early lead boosted the Bison to first place overall. There was still a lot of meet left. In the 110 meter high hurdles the Bison took first and second. The Bison held strong throughout the meet and showed their true strengths.

As the meet went on the wind continued to grow more and more fierce. Not only did they have to battle the other teams, but they also had to battle mother nature. “The wind was a killer, but once your running you don’t think about it as much,” says sophomore Ethan Kalinowski. Although there was a head wind and tough competition the mighty Bison fought through and ended up in second over all.

Their next meet is Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Monticello middle school.
