Boys’ Basketball ends season in Section Finals

The Buffalo High School Boys’ Basketball Team advanced to the section championship this season for the second consecutive year. The Bison faced off against the Maple Grove Crimson on Thursday, March 17 for the right to advance to the State High School Basketball Tournament.

The two teams previously played on December 4 at Buffalo, where the Crimson smashed the Bison 73-45 in the third game of the year. Buffalo hoped it would be different this time around. It wasn’t.

Maple Grove knocked down multiple 3’s throughout the first half, and took a 28-22 lead into half time. Buffalo started the second half on a bit of a run, but a few missed open shots and a couple mistakes on defense led to a Maple Grove victory 58-42.

Junior Dominic Gilmer led the Bison with 17 points, while senior Josh High contributed 10 points, and sophomore Ethan Freer added 7 points in the loss.

Buffalo finishes the season 21-7 overall, and won the Mississippi 8 Conference with a record of 14-2.
