Senior Privileges, but Only for Some

Third block ends and the seniors file into their locker bay area, some gathering items for their next class, however many are filing toward the parking lot.

This year because of the budget cuts and the limited number of classes many of the seniors are allowed to leave at 12:30. Not all have been given this option though; many are forced to be in elective classses and are expected to pass them while many others get to leave and go hang out with friends. Many have brought up the issue of fairness. Is it fair to let only some leave while others are forced to stay? Not to mention that many of the public schools around Minnesota let the Senior leave early every day.

Those who are involved in on the job training have always been allowed to leave at 12:30 and this has never been a problem in the past. However, now kids are being let out early just because their aren’t enough spots in classrooms. The budget cuts have made class sizes extremely large and counslers have gotten to the point where they have no place else to place kids. If half the senior class is being let out this year, it gives us a good look at to one next year will bring.
