Volleyball rallies to advance to next round of Section tourney

The Bison Volleyball team won the first round of sections against New Prague with scores of 25-14, 24-26,23-25,25-14, and 15-13 last night.
After winning the first game, the team dropped the next two, putting them one loss away from elimination. The team rallied after that, taking the next two games and advancing to the second round.
“ We really went in with a bang,” said Senior Jamie High. “The first game we started out with very high energy and did really well but the second and third game we suck with them, but we didn’t have as much energy.”

With a 5-1 record in the conference and 20-7 overall the Bison’s coach Michelle Macalena made sure that they went in with nothing but positive attitudes.

“I think it’s the anticipation before the game that starts them out,” said Macalena. “ I thought the Seniors really stepped it up and were excited to play a few people really stepped up in leadership roles, and the lower class man played very well and ready to go, they did a nice job.”

For some players it’s their first time in Sections and for Freshman Sammy Johnson its the first time under the pressure.

“I’m wasn’t really nervous, ok yes I was nervous and not that I don’t have confidence in the team I do, I just had little butterflies in my stomach.”
