Trek to the Olympics

Not many people get the chance to even get invited to tryout for the Olympics. For BHS senior Max Hartman that isn’t the case. Hartman was invited to go out to Colorado Springs, Colorado to tryout for the U.S. Olympic trapshooting team. He ended up missing the cut by one target but that didn’t crush his dreams.

“It was a privilege to shoot with them and an honor to be among them. I took it as a learning experience and for me to get better.” said Hartman

Hartman has been shooting for about eight years now. He is also a member of the BHS clay target team and is currently one of the captains. He was also a captain of the team last year when the team was first made.

“My grandpa got me into it because he said I wasn’t going to sit around at home all the time. Mark and Sally Stevens have also taught me everything I need to know about shooting. Ever since I told them I wanted to go to the Olympics when I was 11. They have pushed me to get better and have really helped me out.”

Hartman plans on trying out again this fall for the Tokyo games in 2020 since it is to late for the Rio games in 2016.
